@prettyltlgem: Ultra Rare, Natural Painite , 2.58 CT’s, GIA Certified with Notable Letter Painite is a rare borate mineral that was originally found in Burma (Myanmar) by British mineralogist Arthur C. D. Pain in the 1950s. Until recently, the only known samples of painite were in the British Museum of Natural History and GIA's Museum collection. In 2001, a large painite crystal came out of Burma. More specimens were unearthed following the initial find and within a few years several deposits were discovered. Even with the new sources, painite remains a rare mineral. Most faceted stones are less than half a carat, and high-quality transparent stones over one carat are infrequently seen. The combination of rarity, large size, and high transparency make this painite a notable gemstone.
