I feel like if you’re mixed with white, it will usually become the identity that impresses upon you the most, especially if you are white passing living in the UK, or within predominantly white governments, and if you don’t have parents that reinforce your other heritage. Even fully white people will try to assimilate into more acceptable versions of whiteness which is where we begin to see how race and class intersect … it’s a lot, but it makes a lot of sense why overplaying her Indian heritage wouldn’t come “natural” to her … it’s cause yeah … u grew up as a white passing woman in the UK who was privileged … if you play up the Indian than that’s still cultural appropriation regardless of it’s in your blood because that’s not really your experience. blood =/= experience. So idk … she’s authentic …

As a half Indian girl who loves pop culture you have no idea how special it is for me that Charli is getting her flowers and being a true pioneer for many years. Indian people have never been “cool enough” in western pop culture so it makes me emotional in a good way to see Charli being THAT GIRL!!!
