@drtimmercer: PMOS guideline was much anticipated for doctors and patients alike, hopefully reinforcing the use of Metformin and Spironolactone alongside the established use of COCP for the protection of those patients who live with the condition (poly endocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, formerly known as polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS) #pmos #pcos #polycysticovariansyndrome #polyendocrinemetabolicovariansyndrome #metformin
and yet they won't offer a glp1 for longterm management of the accompanying insulin resistance

The conceptive pill is what sped up my symptoms to an uncontrollable level. Metformin was a tough ride until I became resistant. I ended up on mounjaro privately. I’m incredibly worried when I finish mounjaro as I really do not want to be on hormonal contraception

It’s a step in the right direction but I don’t think I’ll bother with my yearly review if all I’ll ever be offered is a contraceptive pill 🙄

This is a huge change to "come back to us when you want children." (which I don't). I was previously told that my issues with severe hirsutism on my face was "just cosmetic" and that I needed to accept it. Also been told previously by a Gynaecologist that I "have to have a period" as if I was in control of it and then discharged.
If this new guidance actually comes with me getting the treatment I deserve to have it will improve my life.

Any recommendations on using GLP-1s to manage PMOS for those with insulin resistance and obesity?

any mention of help to actually lose the weight such as GLP1s? As we all know pmos makes losing weight even harder. thanks

I cross my fingers every day that these guidelines will eventually include use of GLP-1s as a medication (even off label) for PMOS rather than metformin 🥲

So really looking forward to the annual review where my GP will warn me about getting fatter as I age (I'm 43 and have a BMI of 20), while also telling me how the menopause will destroy me

glp and letrozole should also be added for fertility issues and not just push IVF

Are there anything in the guidelines about perimenopause menopause and post menopause with PMOS previously known as PCOS

Not sure an annual review is really realistic or achievable with NHS resources tbh

Do we still need gynaecologist to approve metformin before docs can give it? I’ve been told this and it’s 13 month wait for gynaecologist appointment 😭

An annual review would have been life changing. I do worry how this works in practice with the pressure already on the NHS. This is the most detail I’ve ever seen around PCOS/PMOS. My gps have been as useful as a chocolate teapot

How would obtaining a diagnosis work if a pelvic scan showed both ovaries enlarged and polycystic but hormone tests appear within normal range and period cycles are between 30-39 days?
