Because it costs more to make the disc. Companies are trying to make money…of course they are going to cut costs. If it was your company you would do the same. “ sir…profits are going to be lower because of this plastic disc that we don’t need…what do you want to do?” Would your answer be “keep making them…I like less money”. Lol

One thing people aren’t thinking about is censorship. If a government or corporation decides the content of a given game doesn’t serve them they’ve can either erase it or remove the game entirely from people’s library’s. Physical media is about so much more than ownership.
