@humanesocietyhuronvalley: A few words from Maroon's Foster: Maroon is full of love and appreciation for his people. Gregarious is a good way to describe him - a social guy that isn't needy. Rooney (as we like to call him) likes to sit against you, lean in for pets, and sometimes plop his bottom on your foot or lap. He can be sensitive when trying new situations and with reassurance he does great. He has gotten to try many new things while in foster, but life is unpredictable so there's always something new to try! Rooney is incredible with respecting boundaries and wants his people to do the same. He doesn't beg while we eat, does not consider grabbing food off counters, side tables, etc and only plays with his things. He also stays behind propped up gates and fences that he could easily jump or knock down. In return, he will let you know if he needs a break by going in his crate, walking away or by nudging your hand if he's had enough cuddles. Maroon plays hard and rests hard! He likes to sleep in until 9ish every morning and will relax during work hours. He takes his job of squirrel patrol very seriously and will let squirrels in the front yard know they need to move along and chase the ones in the backyard. He can easily entertain himself with squirrel stalking for hours. His favorite toys are tennis balls and his flirt pole and he will try to play with both at the same time. A good game of tug-of-war is one of his nightly requests. Rooney has learned how to manage his big feelings by grabbing a toy when he gets nervous or frustrated. He is a smart guy that enjoys learning new tricks and bonding with you through training.
