@holvek: Artemis II is the first crewed mission of the Artemis program and the first human mission to the Moon since the Apollo program in 1972. The mission launched on April 1, 2026, aboard the Orion spacecraft aboard the SLS super-heavy rocket. The crew consisted of four astronauts: Reed Wiseman (commander), Victor Glover (pilot), Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen. The primary objective of the mission was to test all Orion spacecraft systems in deep space conditions prior to future human lunar landings. During the ten-day mission, the spacecraft entered low-Earth orbit, accelerated toward the Moon, circled the Moon on a free-return trajectory without landing on the surface, and returned safely to Earth, splashing down in the Pacific Ocean. During the mission, the life support system, propulsion system, navigation, communications, crew operations, and the capsule's thermal protection were tested during reentry at approximately 40,000 km/h.
