ever since my husband and I wanted to start a family we knew we wanted to teach our child Spanish. we both didn't know Spanish! so we've been learning together and it's been an incredible journey! our little guy is 18m now and knows so much!

I’m so tired of this slight. We are just the ‘third existence’. We are American but our parents are from other places. We don’t quite belong in the US, but our parent’s countries don’t welcome us either. I’m don’t trying. I am the third existence and proud of it.

The Spanish language stopped at my grandparents. When they moved up here from Texas to Michigan, kids were not allowed to speak Spanish or they couldn’t get an education. My mom is the youngest of 4 her oldest brother is the only one who remembers the language and still speaks it. My ex husbands family is from Mexico, and most of his brothers were born there.they also didn’t grow up speaking much of it. And this was back in the 90s
