You get 25% tax-free, and the rest becomes your monthly income — locked in, guaranteed, no matter what happens to the markets. Current rates for a 65-year-old are around 7.86%, which means roughly £604/month from a £100,000 pot. BUT there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
