I wouldn't be surprised if they exclude people with private pensions of a certain amount from state pension.

Why pay into something when you’re already struggling financially when there’s no guarantee you’ll live to get it back?

Is it likely that all of us who have paid into our pensions will end up heavily subsidising the masses who haven’t? If so, we’re basically punished for saving our money while many others enjoy theirs in the present.

I don't think they'll dare fully scrap it, what I do think they'll do is gradually shift it further and further back so most of us are gone before it even kicks in

They’re going to keep coming for our private pensions, it’s already gone up by 3 years until you can get it, where’s it going to be by the time I’m there? We’re not getting healthier

What’s the point of being financially responsible when the summer will be 50 degrees in 30 years and we’ll all die in heatwaves

gen z here. IV got 5k in a pension which my company forced me to pay into, every other drop of my money is being out into gold and silver currently sat at around 10k but that's because gold and silver dropped recently.

We used to be able to opt out of National Insurance and take care of our own pensions. Now they charge us tax, NI and council tax yet none of it actually goes towards our own pensions, just the pensions of those alive now

Millennial here and I've never once thought about a state pension. Didn't even know if I had one but assumed if I did that it would be so little to be insignificant. Have a private pension tho

What confuses me is, the SIPP access age is tied to state pension age - so they could conceivably increase it another 5-10 years by the time Gen Z wants to retire
