Unlike the traditional version of Batman, this Bruce Wayne is not a billionaire with endless resources; instead, he grows up poor in Crime Alley, shaping him into a much harsher, more physically intimidating Batman who relies more on his strength, determination, and ingenuity than on wealth. The series also reinvents many familiar characters, with several of Batman's future enemies being people he knew while growing up. One of these is Two-Face, the Absolute Universe's version of Harvey Dent. Rather than simply being Gotham's district attorney who becomes disfigured, Harvey is portrayed as one of Bruce's closest childhood friends, making his eventual transformation into Two-Face far more personal and tragic. This reimagining keeps the character's central theme of duality while giving him a completely fresh origin and role within Batman's world.
