It's not even a competition. It's simply science. You're bonding to something can't be bonded to. That's like painting a banana Peel black and then saying your paint failed because I peeled the banana and it's now white

Tbh this was completely unfair, the coating make the microscopic impurities get filled up, and the paint works buy sticking it it harder then regular psint, without the microscopic holes nothing can stick, so its unfair
