Everything they are doing is completely fine. Gaps are kicked tight, plenty of nails, hammer is just soft enough not to leave fisheyes. Good crew

Nwfa. National wood flooring association says on 3/4” wood your staples should be within two inches or the ends of the boards and every 6-8” between.

Fastener Schedule on This Should be Between 4 and 6 inches, With a Fastener within the first three inches and last three inches of each board. But also this floor will be just fine. Back in the day they would hand nail wood floors with a 16 inch fastener schedule and those floors have lasted over a hundred years.
