[Ichihara Kotono] A Kyoto athlete who experiences both early and late blooming! 2025 Japan Champi... "When you think of Kyoto's long jumpers, you think of Ichihara." He was ranked number one in the nation during his junior high school years. By the time he graduated from university, he described himself as "an unknown athlete..." He's dedicated his life to track and field, and it's sad that his lifetime record is only from junior high school. I really want to jump 6 meters and compete in the Japan Championships. Last year, I updated my personal best for the first time in 11 years, achieving two goals. The more I learn about the athletes' stories, the more I want to cheer them on. Not everyone wins a gold medal or can compete on the world stage, but Japan's athletes shine so brightly. As interest in the World Athletics Championships grows, it's important to refocus our attention on domestic competition, which is the foundation of everything.
