As someone who works in design, this just screams bad time management and poor quality control. Someone probably saw this, decided it wasn't worth fixing, and shipped it anyway, even though people still spent time making it. The sad part is that this is a huge company that could absolutely afford to invest more in polish, but this is the level of quality they chose to ship. I'd be surprised if the team wasn't constantly rushing to hit unrealistic deadlines, and it really shows in the final product

My two cents is that the main character *always* has a smoother transition on the animator/state machine which is more costly since it requires more animations and interpolation between them, and the other character gets treated as a secondary npc that dont have those more expensive interpolations on their animator, to save on computing resources. They ciuld have bothered treating that char as a special entity, but for saving on memory and size its always better to reuse, more so on such a side detail that would be seen/used once ;(( But yea it looks cheap still.

Honestly i don't understand how, to this day, we still don't get high quality animations (excluding cutscenes) for archon quests and event, to the point where charas don't even go i lip sync 🤦♂️. I play both wuwa and genshin, i don't demand animations on wuwa's lvl outside cutscenes (also cuz main story's quests last less there) but genshin showed they are able to deliver high quality dialogue scenes in Varka's story and it's not like Hoyo hasn't the resources to step up their game
