@teaguzzles: Replying to @🦜🚦sAHAmmie🚦🦜🦈 obviously I’m talking about minor problems, not your emotional state after your parents get hit by a bus #selfhelp #traveltiktok #traveling #MentalHealth
Being upset/annoyed is a natural emotion and I’ll naturally visit there when things go wrong, but it is not where I LIVE!

Emotions are like alarm clocks - they are signals to make changes - not lying in bed and listen to your alarm clock until someone else turns it off.

for those who don't know: if you laugh at misfortune you can both accept that it was bad AND move forward towards happiness

Being able to just brush off minor inconveniences with an "it is what it is" attitude is genuinely life changing. It saves up mental energy for problems and situations that actually matter. And also just makes you more enjoyable to be around in general. I cant imagine just being mentally stuck on a tiny problem that happened hours ago

My husband & I say “time to put on our adventure hats” & pantomime putting on hats when shit goes sideways during a trip. Because it’s an adventure, of course it’s not going to be perfect, if it was then it wouldn’t really be an adventure 🤷♀️

I get people mad at me for complaining a lot when things go wrong… but I’m a verbal processor and being negative for 5 minutes will drastically improve my mood and then I can orient towards a solution. There’s nothing worse than festering in it, so figure out what you have to do and move on.

Once I realised that my feelings aren’t fully out of my control it actually changed my life. Like, even if something bad or annoying happens, I can just decide to feel neutral about it.

Also: if and how you express it is a choice. Sure, you're annoyed or upset, but does that have to manifest as you pouting and mumbling in response to questions about plans for the night??

Especially on holidays, limited time, expensive, do everything you can to turn things around and find something positive. You don’t wanna waste your holidays because of a small thing

Yeah, I have to admit I'm one of those. I remember watching the first Hunger Games movie with some friends and I was joking and bantering, and I guess I made a pointed joke because they served me back what I was giving and my fun mood vanished. I was so perplexed by it. They obviously noticed and apologised, and I said it was alright because it was, but something happened that I couldn't explain and I just couldn't get it back. And any amount of masking just doesn't work, it almost makings things worse because people can tell I'm forcing it. I can't speak for all of us, but at least for me, however annoyed you may be with me for being unable to bounce back, I'm more annoyed at myself. I don't understand why it happens or where it goes or how to get it back. And when it happens in social settings, it like I'm viewing myself become an energy vampire in real time in third person. The best thing I've found is just going to sleep, since it's like an emotional reset. I would love to bounce back. I yearn to have the ability to bounce back.

Resilience!!! some people have a bad morning and they turn it into a bad day. You can learn this skill as an adult, but it’s so much easier to teach it/learn it when you’re a child. acknowledge your feelings, validate them yada yada but sometimes it really is just spilt milk and you need to get over it.

It’s crazy when people don’t realize how much life is about perspective and attitude. I also feel like being in that space makes for a self fulfilling prophecy because you literally shut out the idea of any good outcome lmao
