I have personally spent time with Greek people in both Greece and Greek Cyprus. From my conversations with them, many of them also do not believe that Alexander won that battle. According to what they were taught through their own traditions, it was Alexander’s last battle, and he was unable to advance any further after it. In my view, the historical accounts were written by the Greeks, but even many modern Greeks do not believe that Alexander truly won that battle.
