My son asked last year why do we do nothing for my birthday (I’m a single mom/sole breadwinner) I told him it’s cuz It’s my job to making everybody else feel special. He asked who’s job was it to make me feel special and I smiled and shrugged and said mine I guess lol. He said “no mom it’s now my job ok” ran got his hat his wallet and his nana (my mom) and said I’m going to the store ok.. came back with my favorite cake decorations in my favorite shade of green and a gift bag full of my favorite snacks… let your kids be involved it makes you feel incredibly seen and loved!

My 7 year old daughter is the sweetest. Unbeknown to me, she saved her own birthday decorations and hid them for 9 months until my birthday. Imagine my shock when I saw the birthday set up she did, complete with a homemade gift.

when my ex husband didn't do literally anything for my birthday bc we "didn't have any money" (we seemed to have money for HIS bday that year) his mom texted me to ask what plans were and I broke down and was like nothing and she came over and set up a party for me and last minute invited the entire family. all of my presents were from her, a single mom of five living month to month. I divorced that man but still keep in touch with her. she's amazing.

My daughter was super excited for my birthday one year.. she said she couldn’t wait for the decor and cake for my birthday. I giggled and then spoke to my husband privately about how it was important he did that for me the way I did for them so she sees love all directions. I came home from work on my birthday to yard signs and balloons all over the house and an excited daughter standing with a cake for me. Have never forgot it 😁every bday since I have felt celebrated. Sometimes it’s a simple communication even if it sucks to have to tell someone what you need. If all you ladies have done that and still don’t get acknowledged… I’m truly sorry and send a big hug. 🫂

My husband died 5 years ago and for the last 5 years I’ve bought my own birthday cake only because my daughter wanted to sing to me while I blew out candles. Not one person could step up and do anything special for me, even for my 40th. But when I mentioned that in a TikTok reasons I no longer like my birthday, people in my family were highly offended and it caused a huge family feud and people still aren’t talking to each other months later 😳

I always do breakfast in bed and decorations for my kid's birthday,my husband has forgotten my birthday a couple of times, but this year my oldest decorated the living room, made me breakfast and bake me a cake😭😭😭😭....and that's all I ever needed!!🥰

My daughter (13) planned a surprise party for me this year for my 30th. She texted my best friend and asked her to help her with putting everything together. It was hands down the best birthday I’ve had. It stings right now but it makes the moments later on mean so much more 🫶🏼♥️

I will never forget the year my daughters surprised me on my birthday with balloons, a piñata, and slip n Slide and a cake and presents. They remembered me saying I never had a piñata or party and did that for me, so so special .
