people love to hate on this show because it’s not the same what’s the point of a adaptation of a show if they don’t change it you can just watch the original it isn’t going anywhere.

An adaptation is not, nor should it be, a shot for shot remake of the original material. I love the original animated avatar the last Airbender. I also really love the live action adaptation, because it is so true to the themes and characters in the original (unlike the other live action adaptation who shall not be named). I just wish more people could take it as a separate entity from the original

All of yall are under spells.The characters were already interesting in the original show. But even if they had to be made more complex, they could have done this without mischaracterization or making the story infinitely worse. If that was truly unavoidable, then they should have never remade the show, since it apparently could not be done faithfully.

I thought it was really interesting seeing Iroh’s story in the live action too. Feeling grief and anxiety going to Ba Sing Se but holding himself accountable for his actions. While also accepting the ex fire nation refugees regardless of their actions on his life.

I got tired of explaining to people about the directors decision to do the things they do. I literally told them as long as they include the crucial parts of the cartoon/anime I like it. I told them it is leagues better than the m.night shamalan movie that he gave us.

I love people who can compartmentalize their opinions and fairly analyze/evaluate media. If you didn’t like something they changed, that’s valid. But it’s not valid to just sit there and stew and almost “hold a grudge” over it and then completely ignore everything else the show did right. I HATE them not including the drill (when it honestly could’ve been included as b plot in the third act and Toph could’ve taken it down with metal bending) or how Appa was only missing for like a single day. However I can compartmentalize that criticism and also recognize the other changes that I loved, like what’s discussed in this video.

The fact that they made it be a couple years later was a great choice. As someone who has gone through this type of grief, his line about “why am I not over this yet” hit me straight in the heart. Because it never goes away, the jar the grief ball is in just gets bigger so the ball doesn’t hit the jar as constantly as it once did. Loved animated Sokka, but live action Sokka is stealing my heart.

But I don’t think they needed all of that extra stuff. Sokka already felt real and that Suki and the moon scene in the original said so much without having to explain it. It just makes this feel even more unnecessary and I didn’t hate Season 2.
