I’ve always loved the ending, the melody with all these chaotic noises in between, I think the ending represents Mac’s conflicting feelings on his father, wether he should forgive him or not, and how he feels knowing that he’ll be truly gone soon even though he was already gone to begin with.

the song is not even about that it's about mac and his father after he got cancer and him having no idea what to do since his dad left him at a very young age and he didn't know if he should forgive him or not (i might have mixed up something but i don't think so either way the song is not about rivers)
