“Lagi ako umaatras sa VA job applications. Real talk. I was working as an accounting assistant sa isang small company. Most days, invoices, spreadsheets, reports, follow-ups, at checking ng records yung ginagawa ko. I’ve been there for almost three years. Stable naman, pero gusto ko talaga magkaroon ng option na makapag-work from home eventually. So I started looking into VA work. Admin VA. Operations VA. E-commerce VA. May tasks like updating spreadsheets, preparing reports, research, documentation, and communicating with clients. Pero lagi akong natatakot sa requirements. “Experience with project management tools.” “Knowledge of AI tools preferred.” “Please include your portfolio.” Dun na ako napapaisip. “Wala naman akong VA experience.” So instead of applying, pinipindot ko lang yung Save. May YouTube playlists ako. I knew what ChatGPT was, pero basic prompts lang ginagamit ko. Naririnig ko na rin yung Claude at Gemini, pero honestly, hindi ko alam kung anong difference nila or paano sila ginagamit sa actual client work. One night, habang nagso-scroll ako sa Facebook, may nakita akong post about Josie AI app. I downloaded it because the post mentioned a roadmap for people trying to start VA work. So instead of searching “What should a beginner VA learn?” every night, sinundan ko yung roadmap. I started with practical VA skills, then gradually moved into how AI tools fit into actual workflows. With ChatGPT, nagpractice ako ng professional communication and content tasks. With Claude, I practiced taking long, messy information and turning it into summaries, research, and SOPs. With Gemini, I practiced research and organizing information for different client tasks. Pero may ginawa akong iba this time. After learning something, hindi ako lilipat sa next lesson hanggat wala akong nagagawang sample output. Since accounting assistant ako, I started with something familiar. Gumawa ako ng fictional small business and created a weekly expense tracking workflow. Then I made a sample report explaining the numbers in plain English, para hindi lang spreadsheet yung matatanggap ng fictional client. Reporting, documentation, research, organizing information, AI tools preferred. This time, something felt different. And yes, kinakabahan pa rin ako. Pero binuksan ko yung portfolio ko. Attached it to my application. Then finally… I clicked Apply. Walang dramatic client offer after three days. Walang instant success. I was finally giving myself a chance to be considered.” Fictional story inspired by aspiring VAs who spend months preparing because they don’t feel ready enough to apply. Download Josie AI app to learn practical VA skills, AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, and turn what you learn into portfolio projects you can show to clients.
