It looks like answering emails after your family goes to bed because that’s the only quiet time you have. It looks like feeling guilty for taking a sick day, spending your own money on your classroom, and convincing yourself that next year will be easier. For me, burnout didn’t happen overnight. It happened one meeting, one expectation, one late night, and one “just one more thing” at a time. Eventually, I realized I wasn’t just exhausted. I was surviving a job I once couldn’t imagine leaving. That’s why this trend hit me so hard. Because if Netflix really made a documentary about burned out teachers, it wouldn’t be dramatic. It would be painfully ordinary. Millions of educators would watch it and quietly think, “That was my Tuesday.” The good news? Burnout doesn’t have to be the final episode. It’s why I share what I do now. Not because I have all the answers, but because I know what it feels like to lose yourself in a career you love.
