So normally the city works with Welcome America, a public private partnership that’s a non profit, to put on the concert every year. The city gives some grants and companies, such as Wawa, throw some money in in exchange for branding. For context, Welcome America puts on tons of events around the city all year, the total of their ENTIRE yearly grants from the city last year was $5.3 million.
