Before anything else, I want to say that no one truly knows 100% of what happens in a war unless they have lived through it with their own eyes. It is easy to form opinions from behind a screen, but war is far more complex than what we see online.
Yes, I support a Free Palestine. But supporting Palestine does not mean ignoring the pain, fear, and loss experienced by Israeli civilians. Innocent people have suffered on both sides, and acknowledging one tragedy should never require denying another.
What concerns me is how quickly people reduce entire groups of human beings to labels. Not every soldier chose the circumstances they were born into. Not every person had the freedom to question what they were taught. Many grow up believing they are protecting their families, their homes, and their country because that is what they have been taught from childhood. Just as many of us are raised with certain beliefs, values, religions, and patriotism, others are too.
You do not have to agree with someone’s actions to recognize their humanity. You do not have to support a government to understand that ordinary people can be trapped by systems, histories, and conflicts far bigger than themselves.
So before judging, condemning, or assuming you know the full story, remember this: most of us are seeing this war through headlines, clips, and posts. The people living it are experiencing a reality we can barely imagine.
Have empathy. Question what you see. And remember that no conflict is as simple as social media makes it seem.
