@edenroseproject: It made me sad to hear why Eden-Rose chose not to go to prom. It didn’t surprise me though. She hasn’t had it easy in secondary school. Her older sister attended the same school a few years ago and there was no prom! So you can imagine my shock when I found out that prom had already happened! I don’t recall seeing any comms about it (I am not saying the school didn’t communicate it, it is possible I missed it). Also this is the downside of your child not really having any social connection. It means I in turn have no parent in the school I can message or check some of these things with. It is an all round isolating experience. So while teens across the country got ready to go to prom, a fair percentage of our neurodivergent teens opted out because it was too much and that saddens me… but not for long! We will host our own inclusive prom!! Yes, we shall!! If you are interested in making this a reality for Eden-Rose and teens like her in similar positions, please get in touch. Thank you.
