Wow, the way she says normal like if a child with ADHD or autism is not normal. I hope she's not a teacher because her insensitivity to other children.

My son has autism. 3.8 gpa, graduated with honors and 12 transfer units. This woman shoulds like a gen pop student. My son thought gen pop kids were beneath him.

For my son, level 3 he doesn't need to be included in a regular class room, now or in the near future. But I do believe it could benefit other kids with lower needs.

Agree. We have 4 sweet first grade babies that are non verbal in an inclusion class all day. One teacher. One para. They need help self regulating. I can do that…very well. But I am one person. Non verbal students also have AAC devices. Each of them are different and it’s important for the adult to know how to utilize those devices for communication. I am seeing more and more non verbal students. They are not “bad,” they are communicating. I am one teacher with one para. 4 nonverbal in inclusion. OR all students who are non verbal and being placed in an inclusion setting all day, give them each a CSP. Child specific para. To learn the student. To learn their device. To learn the way they communicate.

Your comment is too generalized not all kids who have an Iep need a cdc classroom. Are we now putting high functioning autistic children in a special ed class and taking away their chance to learn? What about ADHD kids?

I function better as an adult because I had special needs kids included in my classes. The patience and empathy learned has made my career in healthcare more successful!

I have a daughter with down syndrome. She’s 22 years old. I said it from the beginning they need to be taught differently

I thought this 20 years ago! It’s way too disruptive for regular Ed. We used to have to clear the whole classroom every single day to deal with one special needs student

How about we properly supply disabled children with supports they need to be with their peers

😬😬😬 I was with you - until you kept reading ...... this needs serious work on the wording. some children need accommodations and those SHOULD always be available, but speaking on the short life span of disabled children is horrendous, honestly.

I don't agree, but I will say "inclusion" needs to be looked at.

My son would not be who he is today with out inclusion. I thank god for the many special teachers and E.As that helped along the way. But I do believe that the parents need to be totally involved with their children’s behaviours, etc.
