Tteokbokki 🍚 - chewy Korean rice cakes in a spicy-sweet gochujang sauce. 📋 Ingredients: ✨ Broth: - 6 1/3 cups (1500 ml) water - 1 piece of kombu (dried kelp) ✨ Spices & Seasonings: - 1 1/2 tbsp (19 g) sugar - 1/2 cup (80 g) hot pepper paste (gochujang) - 1 1/2 tbsp (12 g) Korean hot pepper flakes (gochugaru) - 2 tbsp (33 ml) soy sauce ✨ Garnish: - 1 1/2 lb (680 g) cylinder shaped rice cake (tteok), fresh or frozen - Sesame seeds - Green onions - Hard boiled eggs, shelled - 3/4 lb (340 g) fish cakes 👨🏼🍳 Instructions: 1. In a pan over medium-high heat, add the water and the piece of kombu, and bring it to a boil for 15 minutes. 2. Remove the kombu, then add the tteok (rice cakes). 3. Stir in the gochujang, gochugaru, sugar, and soy sauce, mixing until the sauce is well combined. 4. Add the fish cakes, onions, and eggs directly to the mixture. 5. Once it starts boiling, gently stir with a wooden spoon. Let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until the rice cakes become soft and the sauce thickens with a shiny appearance.
