If the light was yellow and the cop passed the line the cam driver would be in the wrong… but it clearly shows the light turned red before the cop passed the stop line so the cop ran the red, cam driver was just clearing the intersection.

You ARE allowed to creep forward but you are NOT allowed to start your turn until you are 100 SURE that incoming traffic has stopped. This means WAITING for oncoming traffic which may choose to run the amber or even red light. Police cars are unpredictable and will OFTEN cross on red. Once you are SURE everyone is stopped, then you can simply make your left, simple.

I swear every cops favorite line when they know they are in the wrong is “You don’t know/educate yourself on the law, have a nice day/you’re free to go.” A badge doesn’t mean you know more than someone.

If you have entered the intersection on a yellow, it is legal and you can continue through. We can plainly see on the video, the cop car was behind the line when the light was red. The cop entered the intersection illegally and this should be brought to the attention of the patrol supervisor.
