Everything is powered by a wound clockwork spring hidden inside the tin table. The mechanism raises the steel ball into position, pulls the cue backward, snaps it forward to take the shot, then guides the ball through an internal track before returning it to the starting point for the next cycle. Toys like this showcased remarkably sophisticated engineering long before batteries and electric motors became common in consumer products.
