@thegentlebarn: This #DisabilityPrideMonth, we will be sharing the inspirational stories of our animals at The Gentle Barn who lived with disabilities but never let it define them. Dudley was a young cow who accidentally got baling twine wrapped around his ankle. He went days without receiving help, which caused him to lose his back foot. A friend of the rancher reached out to us, and we immediately knew we needed to save Dudley from slaughter. The Gentle Barn co-founders @Ellie and @Chef Jay flew out to TN to rescue Dudley and give him the help he needed. We found a bovine surgeon and a prosthetics company willing to help us create a foot for Dudley. Dudley spent months at the UT Knoxville Large Animal Hospital undergoing multiple surgeries, recovery, specialized treatment, therapy, and learning to walk with his custom prosthesis, with Ellie and Jay by his side the entire way. After all of the hard work Dudley endured during his months in the hospital recovering, he finally came home. The moment he stepped into his new home, he lit up. He frolicked through the fields, played ball with his new friends, and fell in love with our other cow, Destiny. They even had a wedding to celebrate their love. Dudley never let his disability stand in his way of living life to the fullest. He not only inspired us, but people all over the world.
