My ex girlfriend ended things with no explanation and after a few days of me questioning why she said it’s because I was controlling and manipulative, all of my family and friends find this extremely out of character for me and most people have told me it’s likely projection of what she’s capable of. It’s been 6 months since she left and my head is still messed up with it

Yup. My mom passed away late September, so Thanksgiving was my first holiday without her and also my Bday. It was a hard day for everyone, but also a good day and I was very thankful for my family. 6 months later during the discard she told me “I was so upset on Thanksgiving because I don’t think you spoke to my dad enough.” I reminded her I was just trying to get through the day after having recently lost my mom and she dismissed that and told me that I upset her and her dad and she could not be with someone that made her upset like that.

They brought up that over two years ago when they said they’d felt lonely recently, I replied “I wish you had told me sooner so I could’ve helped”. One sentence they held on to for over two years that they didn’t consider perfect.

My ex told me I didn’t put him first. Granted it was a long distance relationship and he never ONCE came to see me. I was also moving my things to his place and it wasn’t fast enough. He claimed he had given me a deadline I heard of for the first time. I was speechless.
