You cannot compare it to Balkan countries or even Asian countries such as Kazakhstan. The secularisation happened by communist occupation which made religion almost punishable by law.

Religion is an individual journey, as parents it is our Islamic duty to teach our kids about Islam and the rest we leave it to Allah SWT. Allah SWT guides whom He wills. At the very least we've done our part as muslim parents.

I'm funny enough am exception to this! While I did feel that pressure, my parents had helped me stay connected to our cultural roots and religious faith. I was fitting your description for a good chunk of my childhood, I found a mosque that greatly connected with me, so I feel like part of it is definitely up to upbringing and trying to strike a delicate balance that's nearly impossible in this scenario

This isn’t what happened. The communities in the US and UK are even more conservative than Muslim countries

You are forgetting the trend of Hispanic “white shifting” almost 50 precent of hispanics identify as “white” now. Kinda like how Greeks and Italians became “white” this too happen to many Hispanics Americans with a large portion of European admixture. Just look at people like Nick Fuentes as an example

Agree about that example of central asia, even though we are mostly religious, most people are secular muslims and some of them even despise people who pray in mosques or people who are truly religious

This comparison really lacks a lot of nuance. Balkan Muslims are not a monolith of people who are only culturally Muslim but don’t adhere to the duties and prohibitions of the faith. Furthermore, the lax attitude of many Balkan Muslims is not just something that developed organically through proximity to non-Muslims. While you do mention restrictive governments you don’t really engage with their role in “watering” down Islam. Especially in communist Yugoslavia, the state’s Islamic organization was heavily controlled by the communist party who used it to promote a version of “Islam” that was conforming with its own socialist and nation-building agendas. Anyone who stood in the way of this process was quickly dealt with by being “fired” from their positions or being sent to prison/prison camps for being “political dissidents”. Even Alija Izetbegović, Bosnia’s first president, spent a lengthy amount of jail-time for his involvement in the Organisation “Mladi Muslimani” and for the publishing of his work “Islamic Declaration”. Our people suffered through a highly organized and well-planned De-Islamization campaign but Elhamdulillah many people have started finding their way back to Allah swt ever since the end of this period. What remains, however, is a split society of Yugo-nostalgists who have internalized the state-controlled Islam and Muslims who are re-embracing our Muslim roots. American Muslims will hardly ever have a similar development. There may surely be an emerging “culturally Muslim” identity in the US but the comparison is not really fitting here.

The kufr in balkans and Central Asia was a result of forced anti islamisation much much worse than what Muslims in the west go through you have mosques they didn’t.

I dont think you can really compare the two scenarios. Central asian muslims and balkan muslims had religion practically banned for them or severely restricted. It wasn’t a natural phenomenon that caused them to become less religious but a centralised effort to destroy islam and related cultural tenets. The liberal democracies of the west don’t operate with as much official governmental hostility for the most part. Itll definitely be a different scenario in the west. I mean if you look at countries that have had significant immigrant muslim populations for long times, like the UK or France, if anything the population seems to have become much more religious, even with the restrictions and sometimes outright hostility faced by the muslims in France. I mean if you actually look at balkan and central asian muslims, even after centuries of non muslim rule they were still quite religious and it wasn’t until the arrival of communism that it began to change. Unless the west adopts sudden extreme anti muslim policies I don’t see this happening.
