As a trans interpreter, I’m a little disappointed the sign for trans was not included. This feels exclusionary and dismissive.

I've seen a different sign for queer. kinda like the handshake for "empty" palm down, from the front of the hair/forehead toward the back of the head

Hi. Interpreter here. I know that there are some LGBTQ signs I, as a straight person, am not supposed to use. Are the signs in this video ok for me to use…especially when interpreting?

This is outdated information. The community is changing to spelling gay and lesbian because the prior signs were euphemisms for “eating” with the L as a vagina and the “G” as a p3nis. Please learn from Deaf creators!!!

I learned old signs for gay and lesbian when my deaf daugher came home from school and got mad at me and called me both. I had no idea what she said but I knew she was using it to be mean. I had to go to her teachers and ask what she was calling me. This was after I leaned dumb and stupid because she did the same thing with those. I always gave her 1 free pass because how can I discipline her when I don't knew what she is saying? she is now an adult and is Bi. lol we still laugh about this.
