My friend and I had the incredible opportunity to witness a true milestone in aviation history — the very first landing of this Emirates flight in Cape Town — and it exceeded every expectation. There was a quiet sense of excitement and anticipation in the air. Operating under the call sign UAE4DE, the flight was scheduled to arrive at 18:05. This beautiful Airbus A350-941 (registration A6-EXK) departed Dubai at 11:06 and, after a 9-hour and 7-minute flight, gracefully touched down on South African soil for the first time at exactly 18:13 local time. The most special moment came after the aircraft landed. I had designed a poster especially for the flight, and being able to meet the crew shortly after they disembarked was truly an unforgettable experience. Seeing their faces light up with genuine happiness and appreciation when they saw the poster was a moment I’ll always treasure. Despite their long journey from Dubai, they were incredibly warm, kind, and happy to connect with us.
