Why are there multiple streamers from the middle? Not one, not infinite, just around 20. And why do they branch apart at the ends? The fractal nature of the universe. Looks exactly like tree branches. The electric charge repels and attracts simultaneously. That's why you get streamers instead of a single uniform beam.
