The thing is, I trust Valve. I don't trust Microsoft or Sony.

Legislation needs to be passed that if you make a purchase for a game or a movie of some sort digitally that you are purchasing that and you own it not a license to access it. It makes sense that everything is going digital, but we need a lot to catch up to allow for owner ownership.

The thing that makes lack of physical games on pc a little easier to live with is services like GOG where you get full access to the files of each game you purchase. Consoles will never have a service like that.

OK, I see your point, and you’re right that physical media is better for ownership. But when it comes to PC gaming, how do we realistically go back? Most PCs haven’t even come with CD/DVD drives for years. Once the industry got rid of discs and made everything digital, they were setting this up 20+ years ago.
Even if they started putting games on SD cards or USB drives, companies would probably charge more because physical production, packaging, and shipping all cost money. Whether you buy from Steam, Epic, or another storefront, it’s still mostly a digital license.
Do I like it? Absolutely not. I wish we actually owned what we paid for. But this is the world the industry built. My bigger concern is if prices keep going up while ownership keeps going down. History has shown that when entertainment gets too expensive or too restrictive, some people look for other ways to get it. I’m not saying that’s right—I’m just saying that’s what tends to happen.

Those using Steam as the example fail. Steams success is there because it's free to access online multiplayer. That's the fair trade off of not having a physical copy on pc.

Sinse the games will basically just be rentals now prices should reflect that. AAA title rentals should be 20$ tops.

The thing is even if you get a CD, it forces you download most of the title online. So it’s no difference.

"speaks out" implies this is something said in response, but he said this years ago. I mean he was right, but it's important to note that he isn't speaking out about it right now. I hope he does!
