I played goalkeeper for yearssss competitively, my friends were always showered with praise by coaches and parents bc they scored goals and made great plays while I was criticized and critiqued constantly. I remember crying in the car on the way home from a game upset bc I let 2 by me. My mom said “ dear, you let them score 2 goals but I sat there and counted probably 25 beautiful shots that you did save” it’s a hard job

2015 Carli Lloyd ran back and celebrated with Hope Solo after scoring from midfield against Japan. That’s one of the few times I’ve seen a celebration include the goalie.
