The less religious I became, the less afraid of bad entities. When I was religious, I was taught my spiritual protection was predicated on how “righteous” I was being. I was constantly haranguing myself over my choices and carried SO much shame. I had incessant, horrific nightmares for years and couldn’t watch anything relating to the paranormal. Now, I don’t fear because I know my power and protection is *mine*. I have control over the energy I let into my life. My spirituality isn’t facilitated through anyone else but me. I have ancestors and guides who protect and guide me. I know they won’t leave me.
