Sadly, I never would have walked away for me. But when I finally realized what it was doing to my kids, I drew the line and let those who couldn't respect it walk away. It took me a while to realize that I wasn't losing the family I had, I was losing the dream of who I wanted them to be. I finally accepted who they really were and stopped expecting them to be better.
