And OBVIOUSLY KC was disrespectful about Aniya! That doesn’t negate the fact that from a reality tv perspective, there does seem to be a social cost to leaving the couple. Two things can be true at once and I am NOT defending KC for how he spoke about Aniya.

ughhh this is a love island USA issue!! nearly every single person on love island UK this year has been in multiple couples. there’s only one couple that have stayed together since day over there. on UK there are bombshells, recouplings, and dumpings every week pretty much. no one ever feels like their spot on the show is jeopardized if they choose to leave their couple bc there are always other options. it’s so much better that way bc dynamics are always changing. love island USA is so over produced. i think USA is much better at casting but UK has a better format.

Yes!!! Omg when people say Melanie just needs to leave Sincere it’s like and go to who… he won’t leave her alone and she has no one else to explore. Production is ruining the show by NOT creating forced dates and bombshells back to back

Another big problem is how short LI USA is- 3ish weeks before casa, finale is 2 weeks exactly after casa. That structure also incentivizes staying in these relationships because there literally isn’t time to develop a connection with anyone else. For UK they get 4 weeks before casa and 4 weeks after casa. That gives relationships way more breathing room after casa.

Ughhhhh I also blame production ; love island uk is better at putting people on dates and creating more moments for connection. Hardly any couples were sent on dates , and I also believe on previous seasons voters could vote for people to go on dates ?

LIUSA has moved away from constantly bringing in bombshells to just shift to drama. Bringing in bombshells allows people to find something they want to being a couple with. Before Casa Amor, they only brought in 6 bombshells and that’s not enough to allow people to find someone else. They also do not shift these couples at all, there are not enough recouplings and that’s ruining the show.

it’s interesting to see how each player defines the game of love island and how to “win.” they’ve dumped people for exploring too much while criticizing people for exploring enough, and motives have ranged from “finding love” to “having the love island experience.” it’s relationship relativism and it’s FASCINATING to watch in real(ish) time.

I think part of the problem is that everyone now seems to think they're supposed to stay loyal. It was obvious pretty early on and I want to assume that production could see that and struggled to throw in bombshells. I wish they'd remind the islanders of the original premise as well as the viewers, especially since there are so many new watchers

It makes so much sense why this season has been horrid. I feel it’s mostly on production versus the actual contestants. Even if people “break up” now, the show is basically over!

my thing is… last season kinda defeats this point bc it was very clear that people were voting for a person not just a couple. Amaya solo won kinda like amber in UK sz5, huda made it to #3 not in a couple, and iris and pepe made it to spite chelley and ace, all of ppg kinda of carried their partner to the top 3 slots as well.
