@tavelarocque: day 25 of the @higherupwellness speak your mind challenge. the sins you don't commit, you call evil. the sins you do commit, you call being human. that one sentence is your entire moral code, and it's quietly rigged in your favor. watch how it runs. the liar judges the cheater. the cheater judges the thief. the thief judges the addict. everyone draws the moral line exactly one inch past their own sins. you tell little white lies but you'd never cheat, so you look down on the cheater. someone else cheats but would never steal, so they look down on the thief. every person picks the sins they're comfortable with, quietly forgives themselves, and judges everyone whose sins just happen to be different. we're all sinners. we just chose different ones. and then we built an entire sense of being a good person around the specific sins we happen not to commit. your morality isn't always a clean standard you live up to. a lot of the time it's just a map of the temptations you personally don't have. the person you're judging right now is judging someone else for the exact thing you do. everyone's standing on their own little island of sin, pointing at everyone else's. so before you call someone a bad person, ask the harder question. are they actually worse than you? or did they just pick a different sin than the ones you already forgave in yourself? #philosophy #mindset #psychology #selfawareness
