The main reason is people laugh at this take is because of the medium. Manga as a medium isn’t taken as seriously as novels or plays or movies. If AOT were a set of novels, it would absolutely be taught in schools

I low-key feel this way about full metal alchemist. The storyline is based in grief, the pursuit of closure, the WHOLE story line with Hohenheim and The Dwarf in the Flask, the ethics of science, etc. That shit is an Epic tale
