Manufacturers make "starter" bikes a certain way because the whole purpose of a starter bike is to learn. There's nothing wrong with learning. A quote I heard once "most people would rather be novice, than look novice". Too many people these days jump right into their dream bike, and they talk themselves into it. "I started on a ..... and I've been riding for a year, nothing happened" or "you're just wasting money on a 300". I'm absolutely not saying don't get your dream bike. I'm saying, be humble, take the time to learn. Then get your dream bike. If thats a 1000cc superbike, or if thats an electra glide. The point of a starter bike is to learn. Not to just "survive". Many of the "starter bikes" that people think of are things like the Yamaha R3 or Kawasaki Ninja 400. But that's assuming everybody wants a sport bike. There are many alternatives that aren't sport bikes. Anyways, this is a massive topic.
