@ibespawn: WARNING THIS VIDEO IS VERY SICKENING TO LISTEN TO AS IT CONTAINS ANIMAL CRUELTY Today I received a call that made me sick. The caller witnessed a mother skunk trapped in a live trap. (DURA Poly Live Catch Trap made by RAM, often used for trapping animals like raccoons or skunks. It is constructed from white poly plastic with a solid-walled, enclosed box design. The trap features a front-release mechanism and galvanized metal doors. The only air getting in is from the front trap door, and it’s not much. The skunk was in direct sunlight and 42 degrees Celsius and high humidity. The traps were set the day before, and the mom skunk was in it til after 3pm the following day. By the time the trapper returned, the skunk was in total distress with hardly anything left in her to give. The trapper then went to the outside faucet and poured water into the trap. Remember, this type of trap has no holes for the water to escape. The trapper knew that she was a mom. In fact, her babies were there, running around the grass trying to get to their mom. This was in front of him. He just left the babies there to fend for themselves. He said he released her a km away and that she ran off to the forest. I went to the location 30 minutes later, and there was no sign of the mom, nor any smell of her spray and body scent. I looked everywhere for her. The trapper is CONSERVATION Wildlife Management Gestion de la faune Denis Juillet de L'Orignal, ONT. I found his contact information very easily and called. The first call I made, I was pissed off, and he spoke with me about the most sickening things he does to animals. A couple of hours later, after I took some time to get my head straight, I called him back. I recorded the call to share the sickening things he does to animals. This time, I clenched my fists tight, with my fingernails digging into my palms. I made it myself sound like I was having a normal call. You must listen to the whole call to hear what monstrous things he does to animals he removes for customers. Oh, and if he gets the babies, he will horrifically kill them. He says he works in the area of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, Ontario. I have added the video he has posted on Facebook of a bear he trapped on purpose with a steel leg hold trap made to clamp down right above the paw. As well as a picture of what looks like a live wolf in a leg hold trap. There is also a picture of a dead lynx in his arms, and the trap is shown on the bear. I will be going to the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), which oversees general wildlife populations, habitat conservation, and hunting/fishing regulations. I will also be reaching out to Animal Welfare & Abuse Services: If you suspect wildlife cruelty, neglect, or abuse, contact the 24/7 Ontario Animal Protection Call Centre at 1-833-9AN-IMAL (26-4625). Provincial inspectors and police enforce the PAWS Act. I will also be contacting news organizations as well as sharing with you all.
