One year we decided to ignore Christmas. No stressful present shopping in crowded malls. No tree or decorating. No over-consumerism. No expectations of being anywhere. No cooking all day & massive clean up. We ate snacks & took turns picking 80s movies to watch. It was so peaceful.

Omgohs same, about Canada Day! It always felt like the most romantic holiday to me, with the fireworks. But when I was married my husband always worked as a vendor on Canada Day so we didn’t get to watch the fireworks together since he was tearing down his booth etc. Then I got divorced and still haven’t had a romantic fireworks night😂. Now that I’m single I either go alone or just don’t go. Even in the times I was dating, I never had someone specifically on Canada Day😂 Like how others always seem to break up before valentines lol , for me it’s Canada Day. But this recent time I didn’t feel bad about it. I let go of that fantasy finally. As for friends. I don’t have a friend group, other than my sister and another friend that the three of us go out for desserts maybe 4 times a year. My secret dream is to find a friend to do tiktoks with me (I had one last year but she disappeared, long story)
