I don't even think Korra was that bad in the begining. She was just not very socially aware but it wasn't even her fault, she was intentionally sheltered from the world, but she still just wanted to help out...

Korra's upbringing was an overcorrection from Aang and that comes back to screw her over again and again. The White Lotus raised her to be the perfect bender, but never bothered letting her be her own person. As the avatar it's her job to restore balance, and in her case that means learning how to be a person. I love her.

I like Korra but this comparison seems disingenuous. I dunno, been awhile since I've watched any iron man films. RDJ's Iron Man is competent, witty, cocky, etc- and he verbally backs it all up, before physically backing it up. Korra, on the other hand (due to the nature of the show), tends to make a fool of herself and gets into hijinks. It's at odds with her character arc, in that sense.

Aang’s journey was the very traditional male centric hero’s journey, written by Joseph Campbell, whereas Korra’s journey fits more the heroine’s journey, which is a subversion of the hero’s journey. Everything else I agree with!

I like Korra, I think just think the series was disjointed over the seasons. season 1 was fantastic. Last Airbender felt tighter storywise. also aang's grandson fart bending I hated that.

I actually really like Korra‘s character because it parallels my own life. I‘ve also been like her when I was younger and then life humbled me even traumatized. I resonated a lot with her in season 4 where she was absolutely broken. I‘m so sad that they decided to make different villains for each season and not continuing story. I think people would‘ve liked more. The main villain should‘ve been Amon as Ozai has been in The last airbender and the red lotus should‘ve been like Azula, Ty lee and Mei. Because I actually really like the chemistry between Bolin and the red lotus and zaheer was so intriguing especially his obsession with air nomad culture. And I think it would‘ve fit Amon to wanting to become the dark Avatar to completely end the Avatar cycle and with that end bending alltogether. Maybe in the last season Korra would‘ve learned the story of the first Avatar which would‘ve been such a full circle moment and the emotional impact would‘ve been higher. Sorry that was a lot. I just love Korra and am upset that it didn‘t live up to its full potential.
