Anytime I’d take pain meds I’d tell the pill where the pain was. Like if I had a headache I’d tell the pill “okay you need to go to my head.” I thought if I didn’t the medication wouldn’t work.

I made friends with a tree on the school playground and instead of playing with other kids, I sat with my tree and read books to her, hung off her branches, and hugged her trunk. The school called my mom and made me stop.
