I've been doing it for like four years and it still annoys me that after YEARS of AF going on, they haven't found a way to make the website more user friendly and more functional. I had several friends join this year and had to walk them through how to even upload their characters because the UI is so bad 😭

I knew it was going to go down (though it didn't last year which was nice), but I am still annoyed cause I updated a character's bio and it took me a hot minute, and the site glitched and I lost like 3 hours worth of writing 💀

it's genuienly so insane how much better it is now, they used to extend the game slightly until August because of it LOL. This is my sixth year so they've done a good job with the servers this year tbh!

hot take but i think that if art fight staff actually used the money they received on funding the site itself instead of making merch and distributing the pay in such a skewed way, the site wouldn’t crash every year. it’s ridiculous to expect people to just put up with the crashing every single year—dozens of other sites can handle hundreds of thousands to MILLIONS of users worth of foot traffic, art fight can’t handle maybe half that? i think that’s pretty ridiculous honestly, and the way they refuse to receive community feedback actually infuriates me dude like what do you mean a waiting list,???? what do you mean “oh yeah the times aren’t accurate lol” what do you mean you can’t fix the site so you’re just going to postpone it? you have 11 months to make sure it runs smoothly, there should be no reason this happens every single year since, what, 2015? 10-11 years of this and we STILL can’t run a simple site for more than a few hours without it crashing? are we srs??? i promise you it cannot be that hard tor regulate it — systems like homestuck ( WHICH RUNS AN OLD SERVER BTW ) have hundreds of thousands to MILLIONS of active readers every single day
