A 20-year-old college student is pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer one December night while walking home… and never arrives. It was December 27, 1986, in San Diego, California. Cara Knott was returning from her boyfriend's house when Craig Peyer, an officer with 13 years of experience, ordered her to exit Interstate I-15 and follow a secluded, dark exit called Mercy Road. Peyer took her to the bottom of the ramp, where he k!lled her. He then threw her body off a bridge into a 20-meter ravine. It took the police weeks to suspect one of their own. Peyer even gave a TV interview giving safety tips to female drivers — exactly on the same route where Cara had disappeared. He was arrested in January 1987. The trial revealed that Peyer had a habit of stopping young women in secluded locations and making s€xual advances. In 1988, he was convicted of first-degree murd€r and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. To this day, he maintains his innocence and has had several parole requests denied. The case shocked California because the k!ller was precisely the one who should have been protecting people. A police officer who became a predator. What do you think of a case where the victim trusted authority? Tell me in the comments. #caraknott #truecrime #truecrimetiktok #scary #truecrimecomunnity
