@yoganessyogi: “Lengthen your spine.” It’s a cue often heard in yoga classes, but what does it actually mean? Spinal length isn’t about forcing yourself taller or creating rigidity. It’s about creating space. Space between the vertebrae. Space for the breath to move more freely. Space for the body to find ease within a shape. When we focus on spinal length, we encourage the natural curves of the spine to be supported rather than compressed. The crown of the head reaches forward or upward, the tailbone gently roots down, and the body finds a sense of expansion. This elongation can help improve posture, reduce unnecessary tension, and bring greater awareness to how we move and hold ourselves. The beauty of spinal length is that it isn’t something we achieve, it’s something we explore. A subtle invitation to create space, breathe deeply, and move with intention #yoganess #alburyyoga #traditionalyoga #movement
