Còn Học Còn Tent :
Today, I would like to talk about observing the Five Precepts, one of the fundamental moral teachings in Buddhism. The Five Precepts are a set of ethical guidelines for lay Buddhists, encouraging people to live with compassion, honesty, and self-discipline. They include refraining from killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, and consuming alcohol or intoxicating substances that cloud the mind. Rather than being strict commandments, these precepts are voluntarily practiced to help individuals avoid causing harm to themselves and others. By observing the Five Precepts, people can cultivate kindness, integrity, respect for others, and greater self-control. In everyday life, these principles also contribute to happier families, more harmonious communities, and a more peaceful society. For many people, the Five Precepts are not only the foundation of Buddhist ethics but also universal values that promote a responsible, mindful, and meaningful way of life.
